Overview
Phase separation is a widely observed phenomenon in biology. Biomolecules in the cell phase
separate into membrane-less organelles to perform certain functions based on their biomolecular
composition. To study the phase-separation process in two contexts namely protein aggregation
and DNA-repair processes, we modeled the biomolecules as a bead-spring polymer chain and LJ
(Lennard-Jones) particles and simulated them using a coarse-grained simulation method. We first
studied the phase-separation process that leads to aggregation and the interplay of various
interactions. Later, we focused on the phase-separation of DNA repair proteins in the DNA
process and the role of the interactions in the formation of it.
